For therapists and counsellors
Online booking software for therapists and counsellors.
Scheduling software that gives clients a calm, private way to book a session, so you can stop spending the gaps between appointments answering “do you have anything on Thursday?”.
Free plan, no card required. Paid plans from £12 a month.
Booking that respects the work
Most therapists start with email or a contact form. It works until the diary fills: messages arrive while you are in session, replies go back and forth, and a new client waits a day to hear which times are free. Some never write back.
OpenSlot gives your practice one booking page. A client chooses the session type, sees the times you have actually opened, and books in about two minutes without creating an account. You get the booking in your OpenSlot calendar and the client gets a confirmation email.
- Separate session types, for example a free 15-minute introduction call, a 50-minute session and a couples session
- Online, in-person or at-home sessions, each with its own location details
- Buffers before and after each session for notes and a breath
- Minimum notice, so nobody books a session for ten minutes from now
Fewer missed sessions
A missed session is lost income and a gap you could have offered to someone on a waiting list. OpenSlot gives you the three tools that make the biggest difference.
Deposits or full payment at booking. On the Solo plan you can ask for a deposit or the full fee when the client books. The money goes straight to your own Stripe account. OpenSlot takes no commission.
Automatic email reminders. Choose how many hours before the session the reminder goes out.
A clear cancellation window. Clients can cancel through their private booking link until the notice period you set, for example 48 hours. After that the link asks them to contact you, so your policy is applied the same way every time.
Booking details, not clinical records
OpenSlot is an appointment system. It is deliberately not a clinical record system, so it never asks clients for diagnoses, history or session notes. The booking form collects a name, email, phone number and an optional message.
That keeps the data you hold in the booking tool small, which makes your privacy obligations simpler. Keep clinical notes in the system your professional body or insurer expects.
You can add your own booking terms, such as your cancellation, lateness and confidentiality policy, and clients agree to them before the booking is confirmed.
What it costs
Start on the Free plan with one session type and up to 20 bookings a month. Most private practitioners move to Solo at £12 a month for unlimited session types and bookings, deposits, reminders and your own brand colour. A group practice with up to five therapists can use Team at £29 a month.
There is no contract and no fee per booking. Stripe charges its usual card processing fee on payments you take.
Can clients book without creating an account?
Yes. Clients choose a session and a time, then enter their name, email and phone number. They receive a confirmation email with a private link to view or cancel the booking.
Is this an automated booking system for therapists?
Yes. Clients book a time you have opened without contacting you, and OpenSlot emails them a confirmation with a private link to view or cancel. On Solo and Team, reminders also go out automatically at the time you choose.
Can I offer a free introduction call?
Yes. Create a separate service with a price of zero and a shorter duration, such as 15 minutes, alongside your paid sessions.
Does OpenSlot store session notes?
No. OpenSlot handles appointments only and never asks clients for clinical information. Keep notes in your clinical record system.
Can I take a deposit for therapy sessions?
Yes, on the Solo and Team plans. Connect your own Stripe account, then set each session type to take a deposit or the full fee at booking.
Will it work for online therapy?
Yes. Set the session to online and add how the client joins in the location details. Times are shown in your business time zone.
